Distributor HEI conversion?

Looking for advice on converting 1974 F32 to HEI. I have a very sweet pair of 351 Windsors that run great but would be better on electronic ignition.

I found some conversion kits out there but so far none that accounts for one counter-rotating engine. anyone know if you have to order a special distributor or upgrade kit for this? I know I dont need vacuum advance as there aren't transmission "gears" to shift.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi bshive95,

I just replaced mine this spring. I too have 233hp merc's 351 fords. I purchased new distributors from Sumitt Racing. They are both the same part numbers, but had to purchase a different gear for the counter-rotating motor. I also bought new high output coils and used my existing wires because they were only one year old. The total price was just over $700.00. But well worth the cost. All I have to do is push one stroke on the throttle to set the choke, turn the key and she fires off. No more cranking, and smooth as a kitten. Wish I did it sooner....
If you need the numbers, let me know and I will look thru my reciepts.

As stated above both distributors are the same BUT use different gears . You can get a kit to convert yours or replace the distributor .
Make sure you use a marine unit , not automotive . NO marine distributor will have a vac advance .
