Not fixing to open up the roof hatch just yet but gathering information. Has anyone opened the hatch and what tips and how to in opening it up. I will have to put a frig in eventually. It appears first thing is to cut the sealer on outside then what is recommended regarding interior headliner and once it is down what do you find is holding the hatch?

The few that I've had off had to have their openings repaired as the perimeters had rotted. While there were no signs of leaking to show on the lining, they must have leaking enough to cause problems even though the cauking didn't look too bad. All of them had glassed in wood. Don't know if Trojan built them all the same way for the duration of production though. If you're careful, you can reuse the headliner but be careful removing it as it gets brittle over the years. I found getting the cabin good and warm allows for easier liner installation. The hard part is stretching it back out to the original position with no sagging in the end and no tears. I find the warmer the compartment, the easier it is.

Ah do it in summertime, plenty hot down here. My TC has always been in covered dock, I have not found anything, anywhere to indicate water intrusion. My F28 the same way, always under cover so will keep my fingers crossed when I need to do it. Exactly how is the hatch held in, the sealer is obvious but are there bolts or screws underneath that you can see with headliner down?

Here is the hatch of my '85 tricabin. Aft is up. It is screwed-in from the inside. You may be able to make out the screw holes in the picture, certainly the upper-most left one, which has signs of minor leakage. I have no apparent signs of rot around my hatch. No visible delamination, no thuds when pinged, and nothing on the moisture meter.
