Exhaust question

Our F-32 has a pair of Merc 230's. Center rise exhaust manifolds and 3" riser spacer blocks. Closed cooled. Here is the question. Where should the water block off plate be installed, top of riser block or bottom? When taken apart it was at the bottom. I could see an argument for either location though. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks!

Not familiar with your mercs but im guessing they are based off of chevy base engines. dont know if this helps at all but see if your engine is similar to any of theses crusader engines. I have used the engine diagram and parts reference on this site extensively (and thats a understatement!) while rebuilding my engines. the exhaust set up should be somewhat similar across the board. sorry I cant give you more specific info.

Thanks for the link and good info, manifolds are different though. I have center rise instead of log style.

Is yours the same as pictured in the last page of this file? If so, it would appear to go right on top of the manifold before the riser.
