Repowering f32-Chrysler or Chevy

My 1980 F32 has twin Chrysler through 360 V-8. They are tired and need replacement. Tired of spending over $1000 to replace exhaust systems on these engines. Fewer and fewer sources seem to be available for increasingly pricey parts.
So what do you guys think? Should I go with Chevys or re-built Chryslers.

If you chose to go with a Chrysler re-man you would still have the same issue with exhaust systems as you present engines . Not sure why you think the chevy would be better although could be cheaper and available in more places .
Fresh water cooling the manifolds will add years of life but you may need a larger heat exchanger .

Went thru the same dilema several years ago. Went with rebuilding the chryslers.Rebuild what you have. Cheapest way to go. The 360 are 250 hp.I changed the cam to a higher profile. What a difference. What parts are difficult to get ?. Chryslers are a 2 bolt main where as a chevy needs a 4 bolt main. If you have already changed the exhaust manifolds bonus. With a chevy engine you will be changing the exhaust manifolds, carbs and transmission bell housing x 2.

While I will agree with you on some points , I will disagree on others , 4 bolt main is not needed Manifold life would depend on the brand . Carbs life I see no difference and you could put a Edelbrock on a chevy . Bell housing ? How often do you see them fail ?

If you change to a chevy would you not have to change the bell housing? Also with reverse rotation engine (chrysler ) does chevy make one? If these are orginal carbs they would be carters.

Misunderstood I thought you where saying you would have to replace them twice as often . (opps) I would think if repowering with chevy they would be getting complete engines ( bobtail )

You wont find a chrysler bobtail. A bobtail engine might still need a differant oil pan, exhaust manifolds and a carb.

I said if replacing with a Chevy , I would think they would get a bobtail . Not Chrysler .

Costs and what you want out of your boat
Here is another option worth every penny to the owner and I understand why .
