Anyone have one installed? I'm going to use one with a lightbar and solve my Nav light mounting issue at the same time. Trying to figure out the two options though, forward or rear leaning and downward degrees

Bob,
I have done a bunch of radar installs ( in fact installing a dome this week end on a trawler ). as far as rearward or forward leaning it its a mater of taste . ( unless something is in the way ) . IMO your boat would look better rearward leaning like the arch . But like I said this is just opinion . Your the one that has to look at it :D

Now as far a the angle , this is where many screw up . People will mount the radar level and just sitting there that's great . But what happens when you put it in gear ? The stern squats down so the radar starts pointing up . Put on plane it gets worse . While it will still work and pick up , you may over shoot and miss things close to the boat. So what I try to do is find the boats running angle to find what angle to mount the radar . I normally like them with slight tilt down when running ax it can help close up but level is ok .
Don't forget to add in the arch angle if any .

One thing you did not ask about was height . some of this can be taste/looks but it should be high enough so the beam clears the top and bow .( see your dome install book for the beam width ) And if long range is important the higher the better ( helps the light be seen too ) higher is better IMO again within reason . I would thing on you boat look at the pick 12" as a minimum maybe even 24" . That's what I am putting on the trawler .

Hope this helps .
Paul
Forgot to ask what radar are you putting on ?

mine is adjustable with an up/down switch at the helm.

I used to be set for automatic leveling, however that component failed and I simply adjust it now by eye.

If I'm in the dark at displacement speeds it is set differently than when i'm at cruise
