Hi Guys
New to this forum and getting back into boating after a long hiatus. Very serious about a 1979 F32, 318 Chryslers. Great boat well looked after but I am I have to admit I was a little horrified after seeing the limited range of these boats. We want to do medium length trips (200 miles) one way and are willing to run at around 1500 RPM as around here they're very strict with wake turbulence. Can anyone give me an accurate sense of GPH or range at this speed? It would be greatly appreciated.

How much fuel do you hold ? (120 or 220 gals) Do you just have 2 tanks or do you have the 4 tank option ? You should be able to get a few miles to the gal IF you run at apox 7 knots or less . Once you get much passed that you start plowing water and mileage goes to hell . Then gets better once on plane . I have 360s and not the 318's. At 1500rpm I get about 8 knots, and get about 1.5mpg. "Your mileage may vary".

Thanks guys. While we’re at it are there any F32 specific issues or red flags I should look for when looking at the 2 Boats I’ve narrowed my search to?

I just did a test last weekend on my F32 with tired 318s.
I use the Garmin GFS10 fuel flow meters into the NMEA network for data.
Hull speed is the key. Square root of waterline length x 1.34 for the hull speed.
Sqrt of 30 = 5.47 x 1.34 = 7.33
Max efficiency at 7.33 water speed.
