Glad you finally got her in the water. Hopefully this weekend we will see good enough weather to allow for a run out in the big lake.

Insulation
If you have ever seen a boat fire, you have about five minutes until she burns to the water line. The insurance company will not be able to tell what type of insulation was used. Obviously you should find the best fire resistant material available at a reasonable cost. Sound deadening super insulati...

Through Hulls
The hull drain is located under the step in the v-berth and it is located close to the centerline of the hull on the port side of the hull. It should have a brass plug fitting in it. The other one could be the intake for the head before they hooked it up to fresh water. Or it could be an old overboa...

Blower Vent Hose
Most building codes in my are won't allow for the use of flexible white dryer vent hose for ducting bathroom or dryer vents to the exterior of the house because over time the flexible dryer hose dries out and cracks. Once the house is complete the hose is concealed and the owner could never inspect ...

Insulation
You don't need fire proof insulation. You just need something that can handle normal engine room heat and will not easily combust. If you did have an engine fire, by the time you noticed it, the boat would be a total loss anyway. If I did have a fire, for a $15,000 boat I would call the coast guard,...

Insulation
Just pull out the insulation yourself and dont worry about it. There are plenty of inexpensive options for insulation that is fine for engine compartment use. You will spend 95% of your time up top on the flybridge and the insulation for noise is not really worth it. Just get her in the water and en...

Survey item
Hey I also would like to know if your surveyor finds a small crack in hull about 1.5" long and 1/8" deep located just behind the window in the head but located down under the hull almost directly under the floor of the wall between galley and head. I have seen it on mine and another boat. ...

Not Me
Boats are just more of the stuff we buy that can all be replaced. I would have got my family far away from the nuclear power plants and called the insurance guy and went to sleep. Life is short and life is easily lost. Boats are just stuff. Need to have a life threatening experience to learn that I ...

Things to check
Oh I forgot to give you some things to have the surveyor check. On these boats, the limber holes (holes under stringers that let water pass through so it can make it to the bilge pump) were not fiberglassed over. This allows for some rot if the bilge has a lot of water standing in it over time. Have...

Lots Of Help Here
Looks nice a nice boat. I'm sure she will check out just fine. There are lots of people here who can offer help on a number of issues. Fortunately these boats were built like battleships so they last as long as you maintain them with the same care with which they were built. I have the same engines ...

Congratulations On The Splash Date
Congratulations,
It is always an awesome feeling when you fire up the engines and pull away from the launch each year. Much better feeling than any anti-depressant.
Hope you have a trouble free season and make your way up to South Haven this year.
I will keep a lookout for you.

Post slow down
Don't worry, the posting will pick back up when people launch their boats and find all kinds of things that don't work that did last year or they finally get around to doing the projects they have put off for a few years. By mid May things will be busy here again on the forum. Anyone know a cheap so...

Poliglow
Looks real nice! I have heard from a few people that you should not use any harsh cleaners on it. Just use soap and water. The couple who have a boat like ours used it on their boat but when they used some grey streak remover, it took the shine off from their boat. Just take care of it and it should...
