New member with 69 - 42' Trojan/ Shepherd
Hello Trojan people, we are the new owners of the Marajay in Toronto. First time boat owners, so we have a lot to learn.
Marajay is a 1969 42 ft model, (model name may be Sea Voyager) fitted by Shepherd Boats, which was a Canadian company. Odometer indicates 6,300 , the engines are recently serviced.
Here is the brochure:http://www.shepherdboats.com/Boat_Model ... Colour.pdf
This boat has been well maintained for it's age, but water has seeped into the back corners and the top of the transom, a lot of the mahagony and oak around the deck was soggy mush and water had soaked down into the plywood all around the stern.
The fiberglass is in remarkably good shape and is still well adhered to the plywood, even the saturated outer veneer. I have documented the ongoing repairs and wondered if there is much interest in this type of posting.
How many of these boats are out there still?
I have a ShopBot CNC machine so I am generating some CAD files for the new pieces that I'm making.
I'm using a lot of my own ideas and processes for the repairs based on my experience with contract work and prototyping.
I will also need to repair the plates for the prop shafts, it appears that the bolts were tightened too much, there is apparently leaks from these places.
Since we are new to this forum and field, any comments on these above and other issues with this fine ship will be appreciated.
Hoping to launch in early August.
Thanks for reading.

Welcome 'neighbour'. I don't recall seeing the Marajay - what marina was she kept at? And you will learn pretty quickly that we all like to see photos!

We are working on a way to show the pictures using an image map type presentation. Something should be up this week.
Thanks,

Ahoy, Robert
Welcome to the forum. Yep, I got a bit of the rot as well with my 42 Sea Voyager commissioned in 1969 for the 1970 model year. Lots of replacement areas but I am all wood. I didn't know she came in Fiber in 1969. Must have been shepherd that did that. Here is a few shots. Great fun and lots of love goes into them.
Cheers.

welcome aboard. and yes, we LOVE pics, especially before, during and after. quite familiar with the shepherd plant as that is where the original tri cabin was built. it was there that i watched the hull of our tri lifted from the mold in march of 1972. and i remember every detail of the visit like it was yesterday. even after chemo!!
