For those who know Port Kinsale (Sad News)

Post by willietrojan »

The Mooring is no longer in business, Read Below

The Mooring Restaurant and the cottages are closing effective May 28th, 2014. The Marina, the Skipjack Inn and the Oyster Reef Cottage will remain open. The pool, the shop and repair facility, the office and the gas dock will remain open.

Joey McCloskey will become manager of the Marina. Jeffrey Moss will remain head of the shop and repair facility and Dori Nairn will remain as office manager.

We’ve owned the Marina and the Mooring Restaurant for ten years.

We love the marina and don’t intend to sell it. But all three of us have demanding jobs and the increased pressures from the restaurant have become untenable. Rising costs, property taxes and regulatory constraints are strangling small business. So we’re closing the restaurant.

We’ve enjoyed the past ten years, made many friends and wish everyone the best.

Georgia, Rod and Devon.

Thats sad to hear about Willie . I enjoyed our stays there . You never know who would stop by  and say hello . The restaurant used to be great but did go down after ( can't remember his name ) and Mary Beth left .

At least the marina is still open and Jeff is still running the Yard/shop ( great Guy )

Yep, heard about that a while ago. The restaurant used to be the place for the best Sunday brunches, bar none! Simply over the top!!! Hopefully they will recover.
Bad news is that without the restaurant, transient visits will drop off. We had a planned stay there with the club on one of our 3 day journies this summer. But it looks as though we going some place else for the night.

prowlersfish,

The guy I believe you asking about was Charlie. Sadly I understand that he may have Brain Cancer.
