I tore up the old (and what I believe to be original carpeting) in the salon yesterday and notices some water damage on the floor in the aft solon corners. I will have to do a cut and replace, but I am curious to know if there is a typical area this comes from?
I would get some water ingress on my Slickcraft through the sliding windows during heavy rain or sea spray... Not much I could have done about that except seal the windows shut.

Any hardware on the bridge, railing screws, flybridge surround screws, rain gutter screws, gunnel railing mounts and screws, bridge seat base screws... if not sealed, water will find it's way down to the corners of the salon and onto the floor. As you mentioned, window will leak too.

I have a hard-top, so no bridge. There is some hardware on top: hand rails, a GPS and a horn. Plan to re-bed all of that come spring.

You should also check out the screws/bolts along the base of the sliding door track, including the ones that hold the rubber stopper for the door... they could also need re-bedded.

In fact. that board that those screws are suppose to hold has fallen off into the bilge.captainmaniac wrote:You should also check out the screws/bolts along the base of the sliding door track, including the ones that hold the rubber stopper for the door... they could also need re-bedded.

You can also take on water through your louvered engine room vents. They have several places where the sealing fails.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll be digging into it more on my next trip over there.
