I have one of these that I restored and installed in my boat. These look like they might be a good deal for someone wanting a built in marine generator.

I'm guessing mid to late '60s. The carb is actually a side draft with a horn on the end facing down for that big filter assembly. The one that I have is a '69 and has the same horn on it however it faces up and has a snorkel style filter housing a typical flame arrestor. The technology in these units was pretty advanced for the times. For example the armature in the generator portion has two sets of windings. The first set of windings turns the generator into a DC starter motor to crank over the gas engine, then once the engine starts a set of control relays shift the armature over to the next set of windings to generate AC current. Another neat feature is the on demand function. The controller sends DC voltage thru the AC system to sense for loads. As soon as it senses a load, such as a light being turned on, a control relay shifts and the generator starts up automatically. Myself, I chose to bypass the on demand feature because I don't like the Idea of sending DC voltage thru my modern day AC electronics. Pretty cool stuff for the '60s though.
