10. Take the platform outside, and give it a good scrubbing with TSC or good detergent soap. Very important to remove the Amine Blush from the epoxy coating. Do not try to sand it off.... It will only cause issues. I scrubbed with soap and scothbright pad. Then wiped off after it was dry with acetone to remove any remaining blush. Then sand the epoxy with 220 grit to give the primer some teeth to grab
11. Now use a heat gun to slowely heat up the bumper rail and bend to form on the platform

12. Put on two coats of precoat primer and sand between coats. Just follow the directions. If you are putting anti slip in the paint, dont worry about blemishes, if you do have some you want to fill, do this with bondo before prime. I put on one coat of paint, let it dry, then taped off 1-1/2" edging and then painted the center area, and sprinkled on the anti skid using a cheese shaker. Once this was complete, i let it dry for about 1/2 hr and peeled the tape off while still tacky. Then put two coats of paint over all of it. Then repeat on the bottom without the anti skid. DONE Ready to mount
This is excellent! Thank you for sharing exactly how you did this! I've been struggling for a while on what to do about a bigger better platform. Looked at teak, jatoba wood, recycled plastic built like a strip teak platform....
Mine doesn't bother me too much until I'm at eye level with it enjoying a frothy beverage with friends in the water and see some separation of my stocker.
Would like to use stock brackets and have wondered how far I could push it. I was thinking 24" would be nice. The transom on my 10 meter is 1/2" thick solid glass, as I found out with my hole saw mounting my stereo remote. I think with some beefed up stainless backer plates on the bolts I would be fine.

Thanks, and sorry for the three part, but could not get more than 3 pic's per post. The platform is incredibly stiff with the 2x4 and plywood all gooped with epoxy, and , not near as heavy as one would think. Anxious to get it mounted. About a month away.
Well, platform is done minus the swim ladder which goes on the right side thus the non-centered position. Then added the name. She is getting splashed in two weeks. Bottom painted, and hull got a thorough buff and polish and looks like new.
Someone on this site mentioned that "a little goes a long way" with the rubbing compound And was 100% correct. Well, I bought a gallon and now have enough left over to buff out 100 more boats. (I hope no one from our marina reads this last statement...).
