The plate very well maybe a Trojan only as I don't think its a common part . the stuffing/packing box (housing) looks like a std Buck Algonquin part the packing box looks like the warped part .

I would not worry how the 2 parts fit together as part of the hull goes between them . How it fits to the hull is more important . a 3/8 gap in places would be to much. If it tightens down OK and is slightly uneven thats ok , a good sealant should do the job 5200 or 4200 will work .( my choice is 5200

That seems wrong is there another bronze plate in the boat ?

If not the large plate goes under the boat and the packing box goes inside .

Do you have a photo of the hull by the rudder ?

You're missing part of the rudder port casting... The plate does go directly up against the hull, but the rudder port is missing the three inch long part of it's casting that fits down thru the hull and thru the hole in the plate. You need a new rudder port. Hamilton Marine is one source and you can order online.

If I recall John at Marine Tech correctly, the plate was Trojan's attempt to hydrodynamically extend the length of the hull to improve handling.

jon_e_quest I believe your right about the port missing part of it ( I should have caught it ) and I believe your correct on the purpose . and we both agree plate under the hull port above inside the hull

That's right... rudder port mounts inside the hull. Plate goes on the outside. And kicker should NOT be using the rudder port in these pics for anything but a paper weight!

Kicker, the plate you have is an original equipment item used on all Model 253 F-25's and was designed by Trojan to improve handling. It's shaped to fit up over the protruding end of the rudder port directly against the hull. As prowler suggests, use adhesive sealant when mounting (I prefer 3M's 4200 over 5200 because it's easier to remove the part later should it ever become nessessary).

Run a bead of sufficient size along the plate's hull footprint and around the rudder port and mounting holes. Let completely cure before relaunching.
