I'm BACK

Post by trojanmanXS »

Yeah I know youve all been missing me and my questions. Well Ive been following the site but havent commented or added anything as Ive been trying to bring myf26 back to life. This summer I managed to get the inside completely gutted and back together. Ive been searching for an engine for a year now and after many attempts and fails throuhgout the country I found one in my hometown, I gantleman from our marina one friday night said he had an engine so the next day I went and behold he had a right hand rotaion 260 complete chevy marine engine. nothing has been tinkered with on it , everything is complete and never had a problem with it , It was one of two that were pulled from a searay that had blown one of the engines. I asked how much he wanted and he said gimme a buck. so engine has been the least dollar costs of this project to date. It hasnt seen water and probably wont till next year now as well building a boat from scratch takes time. lol had I known this was going to be this extensive I might have opted for a turnkey but I'm to far into now . I did manage to get a trailer this year as well ,a used continentle tandem , the boat had been blocked here at home since the purchase so I dismantled the trailer and dragged the axles under the boat and reassembled the trailer under the boat , I was able to get it onto the trailer with very little lifting on the boat. so in closing thanks for the advice you have given in th epast and pretty soon I can show the end result . PS. Jeff finish that damn boat !!!!!!

aaron good to hear from you , as I said Ive been reading the post the past year and followed your posts and great to hear your doing better and the boat has been getting attention throughout your ordeal. Now help me corner Jeff and get him back on that old boat!!!! I couldnt not come back after hearing he was scrapping the project. He an I got these boats around the same time and I had a moment where I was sick n tired of tossing money into the yard gnome knowing theres a thousand things still left to do. Ive come to terms that it will be done when its done and hopefully I'll get a few good rides out of it before the gremlins start in . And yes I know the pics will help out here and promise to work on that. however what I didnt do is a play by play pic of the rebuild. I got the itch after my basement was chock full of replacement parts and I needed the space. so I started installing this stuff and before I knew it it was all together. I can now say that I can totally tear down the entire cabin area to the bulkheads and stringers with nothing more then a philips screwdriver.

lol it WORKED???? well sorta I guess my camera skills suck as well. I'll get it together and get something that is at least in focus and doesnt pan around so much . I had to put the main floor in now as I wanted to see how much wood I had left over to possibly utilize wood against the front bulkhead instead of carpet. will get some video with the lights on and daytime to light it up a bit more, jeff budddddddy good to hear from you !!!!

Thanks guys , I havwent had any luck with photobucket but will get it together eventually, the wife works 40 hrs a week so I hate to park her in front of this thing for an hour to much. The video doesnt do the woodwork justice, My friends Ron&Ann have helped out alot, we bartered the woodwork and in return I installed a bunch of ceramic tiles throughout their home. They put on after staining three coats of poly and then wetsanded the finish , it actually appears "wet" all the time due to the wet sanding process. I had this boat completely GUTTED . I had to replace everything below but was lucky that the old nasty woodwork, pressboard was in tact enough to draw good templates for replacement parts. The woodwork was all based on that flooring in there, I bought the flooring and Ann "rons better half used a sample board to come up with the stain that matches perfect. I'll keep trying to get good quality pics but think it will be utube for a while as it doesnt take the wife long, I run out in the boat with her telephone and rush it back to have her work her magic and get it online. thanks for comments and hope to have more before the snow flys here . thnks again
