10 Meter Mid-Cabin fuel tank sending units

Post by cmcmjk »

I needed to replace the sending units in our fuel tanks and upon measuring the depth of the tanks found one to be deeper than the other. Port measures 21" deep and starboard measures 23" deep. they are both 127 gallon capicity according to the labels. I didn't measure any other dimensions to actually calculate the volume yet.

I'm throwing this out there for two reasons:

Has anyone else found the same thing?

If you are planing on using WEMA sending units measure both of your tanks before you order!

if my memory is correct both of mine were 23-1/8 .(i had to be exact so I could get the correct spacing to wedge them in) . if they are factory tanks they should be the same.
Make sure your measuring the actual tank and not the blocking that holds the tank in place (made that mistake but caught myself before it was too late).
I believe you should have mechanical gauges with a replaceable sending unit that screws on top. you should be able to simply replace the tops.

My first measurement was at the front of the tank where it was easiest to get to!

There are access plates in our deck so I actually pulled the senders and measured the tanks at the position where they are mounted. The manufacturer tags are dated 1989 and our boat is a 1990 so they are original.
