1984 Trojn SF36 Throttle issues

Post by coopacol »

Hello, I purchased a 1984 Trojan SF36 at the beginning of the 2015 season. The previous owner had the boat for 18 years and really took care of it. The first issue we had with the boat was the engine stalling and making a crackling noise. We replaced the wires, spark plugs and distributer cap. Also changed the coils. The boat ran fine for a month or so and then most recently the boat would be running at 2600 rpm and then all of a sudden bog down. It wouldn't run over 2000 rpm. We switched gas tanks for the starboard engine which was the one acting up and it ran good for a small trip but this weekend after 15 minutes of running bogged down again over 2000 rpm. I am assuming a fuel issue but we changed the fuel filter and it looked good. Also treated gas with the k100 I believe from napa. as anyone had this issue and any suggestions?

Thanks Rob

One more question. I am planning on polishing the fuel tanks and was wondering where the best access is for the forward tanks?

Welcome to the forum. Which engines do you have? Crusader 454's?

Crusader use fuel filters (2) and a water separator for each engine. Also, be sure that which ever tanks you are running from, the other valves are shut. There are also anti-syphon valves on top of each fuel tank which can get plugged or the valve and spring sticks. It will starve the engines of fuel under a demand.
Give us some more info on your boat.
