Photo of Hydraulic Ram - F Series
Does anyone have a photo of their hydraulic steering ram from a F series boat? I have cable steering and am getting ready to install a linear drive for my autopilot and am looking for mounting ideas.
I can certainly come up with my own mounting system, but I figure the Trojan engineers might have had a very good idea on how best to mount it. Since the hydraulic steering ram is pretty much the same as the one I am installing for the AP, the mounting should be very close.

I looked to see if I had one of the stern bilge... nope, just every other area. The hydraulic ram on mine is installed on a piece of wood mounted parallel to the transom and fastened to the deck supports, best I can remember. Will take a few pictures this weekend, if we don't get covered in snow!

Mine fastens to a L-bracket that's bolted to a stringer , outside starboard I believe .

Re: Photo of Hydraulic Ram - F Series
Saw your post earlier today and decided to leave it to tonight to respond once I got back to my home machine with pics.... Thought I had some shots - know I have some - but can't find them tonight.... hopefully I can post some tomorrow after I find old ones and get down to the boat and take a few more! I had original 1979 F32 steering system until a month ago, and now have 'current' SeaStar replacement setup, so can post pics for both. New system needed some adjustments from how old system was set up.

Re: Photo of Hydraulic Ram - F Series
Got buggered up today and didn't make it down to the boat, so no good pics of installation of the NEW ram, but here are some shots of the old (Trojan original 1979 F32) setup... Hopefully have shots of the new one tomorrow night.
FYI - original Syten system had hoses from power steering hubs (pumps) to a 'uniflow valve', then two lines from the uniflow valve to the ram. Original setup on F36 and Tri Cabins differed... Current Telelflex SeaStar systems (as sold/marketed) have lines going direct to the RAM, but in my current config the uniflow valve is still there as it was reused by 'my guy' so I didn't have to replace all hydraulic lines with new lines of different diameter.

Re: Photo of Hydraulic Ram - F Series
This is all quite helpful! It is interesting to see the differences between the F36 and F32 in regards to the placement of the ram.
Still waiting on my drive to show up...
